Cinco de Mayo for a first date is only appropriate for this fun and festive couple! In May of 2020 Covid had all restaurants restricted to take out only, but that didn’t stop Dixon McMakin from making an unforgettable first impression. Bess was surprised and delighted to find Dixon had set up a mini restaurant out of the back of his Tahoe complete with pinata’s in the parking lot of Mestizo’s Mexican restaurant where they dined on their take out and stayed until after the restaurant had closed. The rest is history and the couple said I Do on June 10, 2023 in New Orleans at Race & Religious, a courtyard space surrounded by beautiful exposed brick walls. A “pop of color” was the theme for the wedding where the brides favorite color, pink, can be seen throughout.
The bride and grooms rings feature a 3 stone emerald cut diamond engagement ring with custom sapphire and diamond band from Lee Michaels.
A pop of pink with the brides shoes and custom initials donning the entrance of their venue. The wedding cake was from Counterspace Bakery in Baton Rouge and featured colorful florals on top.
The bride’s gown was from designer Jenny Yoo. After the ceremony she added sleeves as she loved the drama of an outfit change! Pops of color were everywhere including the flowers which were from florist Nola Flora.
Guests enjoyed a late night snack of chicken fingers from Raising Cane’s, which are from the couple’s home town and owner Todd Graves, a close friend was a groomsman in the wedding. The grooms favorite rice krispie treats served as his grooms cake with featured initials “TCB” which is his favorite motto – Taking Care of Business, it was coined by Elvis, which is one of his idols.
